I have a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer and I am having the same issues. The vehicle is stalling on me at 50 MPH. I have had it in to the dealership twice this week. They still have it, since Saturday. They replaced the fuel pump and it stalled 20 minutes down the road after I picked it up. So, there it sits at the dealership till they can figure it out.

This might help a few out that are having transition issues. We have an 2006 mercury mountaineer 4.0 ltr with the 5r55s trans. My wife was driving it and the orange wrench came up on the dash. We have a 160k on it with no major issues. So like you I read all the blogs and watched a lot of youtube. No where did it describe our issues.

I have a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer. I recently had it in the shop for a noise in the front end that started once you hit 45 mph. It sounded like a bad hub. We had replaced several on our previous SUV, so we know what that noise means lol. The dealership replaced one of the hubs, I believe the passenger side. The noise is still there.

Oct 21, 2022 · On a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer : I assume the fuel filter would be in the same location as a 1997 Ford Explorer : ( underneath the Mountaineer , below the drivers door , mounted on the frame rail )
