Jun 22, 2023 · Hello, I recently got my hands on a zippo lighter, the issue is, I live abroad and i cannot order zippo lighter fluid domestically because flights do not allow explosive or flammable material, aka lighter fluid, so what can i use as fuel that is as good, if not better, than zippo lighter fluid that is commonly available in basically every country?

Is there any way to stop the fluid from evaporating? : r/Zippo
Sep 13, 2022 · My observations: Some fluid lighters (not Zippo brand ones) evaporate less because they have a snuff cap instead of a large flip top. The wick, in all fluid lighters, is meant to evaporate fluid constantly, and if you put a small cap around it that shields it from the air surrounding it, it evaporates considerably less.

Jan 16, 2023 · Also be aware that lighter fluid does not mean charcoal or bbq starter fluid. Until you get comfortable with the operation and care and maintenance of your Zippo, only use Zippo or Ronsonol branded lighter fluid if you live in the US. If you get a butane insert you can pretty much use any butane, but get higher quality brands.

In regards to the Zippo vs Ronsonol discussion : r/Zippo - Reddit
For me, Ronsonol feels essentially the same as the regular Zippo lighter fluid. The flame burns well and is quick to light (I've never experienced any problems, even minor, with the Zippo brand fluid). The bad news, however, is that the Zippo fluid feels identical to the Ronsonol counterpart.
r/Zippo on Reddit: Can I put normal lighter fluid in my Zippo or do …
Jul 15, 2014 · As suggested by Zippo themselves, I'd recommend using Zippo lighter fluid. I tried using a different kind of lighter fluid, and ended up with white smoke after I would put the flame out. Zippo lighter fluid always works, has a minimal smell, and is the recommended fluid by most anyone who has Zippos.
accidentally refilled with fluid instead of butane : r/Zippo - Reddit
Jun 29, 2022 · If it’s a nice quality butane lighter, you could probably take it apart and try to purge the lighter fluid out of it. If you were able to actually put zippo lighter fluid in the butane fill valve, it’s likely been clogged by the zippo fluid. There should be information out there as to how to empty and fix a butane lighter.
Butane insert? Or stick with the original fluid and wick? : r/Zippo
Sep 10, 2019 · The other benefit is that if you’re in the habit of smoking cigars or a pipe, with a butane insert you can enjoy without the lighter fluid taste. Of course there’s a give and take. With the standard insert you can use whatever fuel you come across, petrol, ethanol etc. So it really depends what you need and how you use your lighter.

Jul 16, 2023 · I like the original zippo design but the smell is awful and unbearable. I tried lamp oil as an alternative the smell is gone but the flame is pretty small and it doesn't light consistently.
