A US federal judge ordered the Donald Trump administration to halt broad immigration stops and arrests across seven California counties, including Los Angeles, following allegations of racial profiling and “unconstitutional tactics” by federal immigration agents.

The Trump administration is suing the state of California to block animal welfare laws that it says unconstitutionally helped send egg prices soaring. But a group that spearheaded the requirements pushed back, blaming bird flu for the hit to consumers’ pocketbooks.

Accusing California of imposing “unnecessary red tape” on the production of eggs, the Trump administration is suing the state over animal cruelty laws it claims have driven up prices nationwide.

The plaintiffs in the lawsuit include three detained immigrants and two U.S. citizens, one who was held despite showing agents his identification.
