Justice Sanjiv Khanna was on Monday sworn in as the 51st Chief Justice of India. President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to him at a brief swearing-in ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Justice Khanna took the oath in English in the name of god.

Interestingly, Justice Sanjiv Khanna ascended to the Supreme Court in January 2019 without serving as a chief justice of any high court.

Justice Sanjiv Khanna officially took office as the 51st Chief Justice of India after being sworn in by President Droupadi Murmu. His term will last just over six months, succeeding Justice D Y Chandrachud.
