Pope Leo XIV has apparently made peace with Jannik Sinner. The top-ranked tennis player visited the new pope on Wednesday, gave him a tennis racket and offered to play, during an off day for Sinner at the Italian Open.

One day after meeting Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican, Sinner delivered a perfect 6-0 set at the Italian Open in Rome against Casper Ruud. He went on to win 6-0, 6-1 to advance to the tournament's semifinals. Pope Leo, previously known as Robert Prevost, met Sinner briefly on Wednesday and the World No. 1 gave him some tennis tips.

The new pontiff received the Italian tennis star ranked No. 1 in the world by Association of Tennis Professionals in a room near the Vatican’s Paul VI Audience Hall.
