Netherlands great Vivianne Miedema scored her 100th goal in international soccer against Wales at the Women’s European Championship in Lucerne.

Wales women's first major tournament match ended in defeat to the Netherlands as Vivianne Miedema's brilliant goal, her 100th for her country, helped them to a comfortable 3-0 win in Lucerne.Miedema's superb effort on the stroke of half-time undid a solid 45 minutes of defending from Wales who never really looked like producing an upset against their more illustrious opponents.

Wales' women were beaten 3-0 by Netherlands on their first ever appearance at a major tournament. According to UEFA figures, 3,800 Welsh fans made the trip to Lucerne to soak in the atmosphere, a figure seven times bigger than the previous record for travelling fans.
