By early afternoon Sunday the rain showers could be into Ludington, Pentwater, Muskegon, Grand Rapids, Benton Harbor and Kalamazoo. It could be late afternoon before the showers become widespread. The rest of Lower Michigan will be dry in the first half of Sunday afternoon.

4Warn Weather – Our stretch of dry, warm weather extends summer but could also affect the beauty of our Michigan fall season. Warm days and cool, crisp nights are perfect for vibrant fall colors. Unfortunately, our temperatures are downright hot during the day and stay unseasonably warm at night.

Michigan is an ideal place to enjoy fall foliage, but the recent dry weather could take a bite out of the duration and vibrancy of this year’s show. (Sept. 17, 2024)

The extremely dry weather over the past month, and the temperature outlook into October mean we can update the fall color thoughts for Michigan. Firstly I want to start with the good thought that we will have some period of spectacular fall color.
