The number also breaks a record. The last big automaker to hold the record for the most recalls in a calendar year was General Motors, which had 77 recalls in 2014. Ford has exceeded that number in half the time.

Ford has issued a massive recall of some of its best-selling vehicles, including the F-150, Bronco and Explorer. The automaker is recalling 850,318 vehicles worldwide, with 844,098 of those in the U.S., according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
