Houston Astros shortstop Jeremy Peña is progressing toward a return to the diamond. Peña originally landed on the 10-day injured list a few days ago with a small fracture in his left ribs after being hit by a pitch.

However, Alvarez, who was ramping up and expected to face live pitching, has faced a setback from his hand fracture. Astros' higher-ups didn't make it sound like it was promising, with a new development coming out of Houston. According to The Athletic, Alvarez was scheduled to see a hand specialist on Wednesday.
