Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris told Fox News' Bret Baier that the old Redskins name would not be returning as the team gets approved to build a new stadium at the old RFK Stadium site.

After nearly three decades of playing in Maryland, the Washington Commanders are headed back to the District of Columbia to build a new home at the site of RFK Stadium, where the club played until the mid-1990s.

ESPN's John Keim first reported on Sunday that the Commanders agreed to a deal with the District of Columbia to build a new stadium where RFK Stadium still stands. The franchise played at RFK Stadium from 1961 to 1996 and won all three of its Super Bowls during that span.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was in attendance for the team's stadium announcement and at one point during the event, he was asked if the new stadium would "increase" the chances of D.C. getting a Super Bowl. "I didn't come here to announce that, but I would say dramatically," the commissioner said.
