On July 22, 2009, millions of people across Asia sought vantage points to view a rare 6 1/2-minute total solar eclipse, longest of the 21st century.
In March, observers in Chile were treated to an especially spectacular sight, as the night sky lit up with orange and green hues. To top it off, the moon was in a full lunar eclipse.
The second total lunar eclipse of 2025 will be visible from Asia and western Australia on Sept. 7-8, 2025.
