LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Standing where a statue of King Louis XVI once was, Chris Reitz said the piece is why he's stepping down as the city's Commission on Public Art (COPA) chair.

Out of about 500 responses, 75% selected a choice that said King Louis XVI should be “repaired and put back on view.” Most of the responses were from predominantly white ZIP codes in Louisville.

The statue of King Louis XVI was showered with confetti Sept. 10, 2004. It was announced that the statue, donated to the city in 1967, would be cleaned and repaired.
