Authorities say a U.S. Border Patrol agent was fatally shot Monday afternoon while conducting a traffic stop on Interstate 91.

Agent David “Chris” Maland died in a shooting following a traffic stop, the FBI said. A second person killed in the incident was a German national in the country on a current visa, authorities said.

A Connecticut man was arrested after he used a stolen fire department pickup truck to pull over drivers on Interstate 91 in Western Massachusetts early Saturday, according to the Massachusetts State Police.

Minor injuries were reported after a crash on Interstate 91 North in Windsor early Thursday morning, state police said. The two right lanes are closed on I-91 North between Exits 35 and 36. State police said the crash involved two cars and included a rollover.

Police are investigating after a man stole a fire department vehicle and several tools from a firehouse in Windsor, Conn., started a small fire in the garage, then used the stolen fire vehicle to try and stop several drivers on Interstate 91 in Massachusetts,

The Vermont State Police are assisting federal authorities after a shooting involving a Border Patrol agent. They said it happened around 3:15 p.m. Monday on Interstate 91. The FBI is leading the investigation.
