China is reportedly exploring the possibility of selling TikTok's US operations to Elon Musk, according to Bloomberg. The move is said to be under consideration by China if TikTok is unable to avoid a potential ban in the US and can't sell the app to a US-approved buyer by this Sunday,

The company is awaiting a decision over the constitutionality of a new law that aims to force a sale of the app to a non-Chinese owner under the threat of a ban.

TikTok will shut down entirely in the US on Sunday without intervention from the US Supreme Court, unnamed sources have told Reuters. That would go beyond the ban’s requirement for app stores to stop offering downloads of the app, but not immediately halt use of it.

Social media giant TikTok plans to completely shut down its operations in the United States this Sunday if a ban ordered by legislators goes through as planned, a report said.

The Supreme Court could rule on TikTok’s fate as soon as Wednesday, after justices signaled during oral arguments Friday they may uphold the federal law banning TikTok unless it divests itself from ByteDance, expressing skepticism of TikTok’s opposition to the policy.
