LINCOLN, Neb. -- Greg Sharpe, the play-by-play voice for Nebraska football since 2007, has died of cancer, his family announced through the school Saturday. He was 61. Sharpe died Friday, 10 months after he announced he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was able to work several games last season.
Services scheduled for Greg Sharpe, the late ‘Voice of the Huskers’
A celebration of life for 61-year-old Greg Sharpe will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27. His funeral is set for 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28. Both services will be held at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church at 84th Street and Pioneers Boulevard. He was the play-by-play announcer for Nebraska football and baseball since 2007.
