Senate Republicans pushed a mammoth budget reconciliation bill through their chamber Tuesday morning over vehement Democratic objections.

A new analysis showing the legislation would be far more expensive than the House version could complicate its chances of final passage in that chamber, where fiscal hawks have said the cost must not grow.

The fight over the federal budget bill known as One Big Beautiful Bill moves back to the House, where it is expected to face challenges given changes that were made on the Senate side. CBS News has this update.
