Interstate 10 heading into downtown Phoenix from the West Valley was closed briefly after a crash Wednesday morning.
A crash involving multiple vehicles blocked several lanes of traffic in the westbound lanes of I-10 near 7th Avenue on Jan. 23. It's unknown if anyone was hurt.
PHOENIX — The westbound lanes of Interstate 10 from Chandler to central Phoenix will be closed this weekend due to a traffic shift. The Arizona Department of Transportation said the closure will take place between the Loop 202 freeway to Interstate 17. The closure starts at 10 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, and ends at 4 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27.
Erian Sandoval, 26, was shot and then crashed his vehicle into the freeway median and died at the scene, police said.
A man was killed in a fatal shooting on Interstate 10 near 75th Avenue in Phoenix. A second unidentified man was taken into custody.
A fatal road-rage shooting ended with a man calling 911 on himself in Arizona, police said. The incident happened just after 8 a.m. Jan. 15 on Interstate 10, the Phoenix Police Department said in a news release. Two men got into a “confrontation” while driving on the freeway, police said.

“While you are allowed to use deadly physical force to defend yourself against deadly physical force, what you aren’t allowed to do is recklessly or negligently injure or endanger other drivers on the road,” Marcantel said. Police said no one else was injured in this incident.
