The Team Penske driver’s love affair for Phoenix took an even deeper turn last November when he held off teammate Ryan Blaney over the final 20 laps to win his third Cup Series title.

It was elation for William Byron, who took the pole position for Sunday's Shriners Children's 500 at Phoenix, but it came at the expense of Joey Logano, who was knocked from what would have been Team Penske's 700th pole across all disciplines of racing.
