The 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 has an available free fix via reprogramming for a faulty Brake System Control Module (BSCM), according to a new GM Service Update.

GM is recalling 450,000 2023 and 2024 trucks and SUVs of varying models due to a faulty brake fluid light apparently caused by a computer issue that doesn't relay the necessary information.

Without the warning light, a vehicle may be driven with low brake fluid, which can reduce braking performance and increase the risk of a crash, safety agency said.

The recall covers multiple truck and SUV models from 2023–2024 because of a fault within the electronic brake control module software.
