Android's lock screen notifications feature lets you interact with designated notifications without unlocking your phone. Here's how to set it up.
Lock screen widgets were very quickly and quietly phased out of stock Android devices, but you may still be able to use them on some devices with workarounds.
Google is working on a new lock screen notification minimalism feature for Android. When enabled, this will shrink notifications so only their icons will show on the lock screen.
However, lock screen widgets won't automatically appear when running Android 16. It will be up to phone manufacturers, such as Samsung, to add the functionality through an update.
Lock screen widgets were introduced in Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Users could swipe left or right on the lock screen to access multiple widgets for the clock, calendar, email, and third-party apps.
