I use Icon Restore (here at download.com). It gives me two extra menu items when I right-click my Recycle Bin or My Computer icons - one for Save Layout and one for Restore Layout.
There are two methods using which you can easily change or restore default icons for a Folder in Windows - Using Properties or desktop.ini file.
