Everyone has private data on their PC, and one of the best ways to safeguard that is to password protect it. But do you know how to password protect a folder?
First, most Zip managers, including popular freebie 7-Zip, give you the option of password-protecting any zipped folders (and individual files).
To encrypt an archive in 7-zip, once you’re at the Add to Archive dialog box, enter a password and select the Encryption method AES-256.
Open 7-Zip and select the drive on which your soon-to-be-compressed folder can be found. Click the folder, then click the "Add" button to bring up the "Add to Archive" window.
