GM has released a Service Update for certain units of the Chevy Silverado and Chevy Express due to an issue with a fuel tank fuel pump module.

GM has released a Service Update for certain units of the GMC Sierra and GMC Savana due to an issue with a fuel tank fuel pump module.

The typical returnless system uses a fuel rail pressure sensor, along with other typical engine sensors, to work with the ECM and a fuel pump controlled by a fuel pump driver module.

The fuel pump power control module may cause the fuel pump to fail or operate intermittently, which can interrupt fuel flow to the engine, and cause an unexpected engine stall.

"The M-9407-GT05 kit is actually a GT500 dual-pump setup with the second fuel pump driver module and a harness with correct size wiring," Kershaw says.

A fuel pump-related issue has prompted Honda to issue a recall of over 2.5 million vehicles, according to a recall report submitted earlier in the week to the NHTSA.

The fuel pump driver module on Ford trucks of this vintage is known for corrosion-caused failures. The part is attached to a steel cross-member under the truck bed, near the spare tire.

US Motor Works Part No. USEP3992M fits a variety of Chevrolet Blazer, GMC Jimmy and Oldsmobile Bravada applications.

More than 2.5 million cars are affected by the recall involving faulty fuel pumps, including some Accord, Civic, CR-V and Acura vehicles.
