I'm trying to telnet into a machine at school to get some work done, and I can't open anything (standard "cannot open DISPLAY, use -d, check xhost" error).Basic setup: my computer -> house router ...

Changed to mintty, but now whenever I try to fire off a GUI vi I get "E233: cannot open display". According to google this means I'm not running an X-Server, which I'm not.
