A New Jersey law that removes a requirement for teachers to pass a reading, writing and mathematics test for certification will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2025.

The New Jersey Board of Education will eliminate the requirement for most teacher candidates to pass basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills tests to gain certification.

Teachers in New Jersey will no longer be required to pass a basic reading, writing and mathematics test to be eligible for public schools, according to a new law.

A law prohibiting the New Jersey State Board of Examiners from requiring a basic reading, writing and mathematics test for teachers went into effect on Wednesday.
