Open your default file manager. We used Google Files for this tutorial. Allow the app to show hidden files in the settings menu as aforementioned. Go to Internal storage > DCIM.

Since hidden files are only stored on your device, you don’t have any editing or sharing functionality present in the Google Photos app.
