The Sackler family agreed to pay up to $6.5 billion, Purdue to pay $900 million, for a total of $7.4 billion to settle lawsuits over the toll of the powerful prescription painkiller. Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell said that Massachusetts could receive up to $108 million of the settlement money.

The Office of the Attorney General came to a $7.4 billion settlement with the Sackler family and their company, Purdue Pharma, over their actions leading up to the opioid crisis, which has killed several hundreds of thousands of people in the last two decades.
