More than 200 rallied in Fort Myers to honor John Lewis and protest what they see as threats to civil and human rights.

Protestors gathered outside the Washington County Courthouse Thursday afternoon as part of another national demonstration critical of President Donald Trump and his administration’s actions. An estimated 170 people attended the local nationwide day of action,

A rally at MLK Jr. Memorial Park commemorated the fifth anniversary of civil rights leader and U.S. Rep. John Lewis' death.

"Through struggle and sacrifice, I’ve learned power doesn’t come from a podium, it comes from the people," said Memphis activist Jose Salazar.

A rally in York marked five years since the passing of civil rights icon John Lewis, celebrating his legacy and opposing the Trump administration's policies.

Organizers will call for passage of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and other voting rights legislation.
