The legacy media’s once-might monopoly is crumbling—and there’s nothing they can do to salvage their role as gatekeepers of the news.

The White House said on Tuesday it would decide which media organizations participate in the press pool that covers the president, wresting control away from the group of journalists that has done so for decades.

The White House is changing the process of how reporters cover the president. Press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced the Trump administration will choose which media outlets will be part of a pool of reporters that cover events and travel with the president.
