EA's Origin app for PC gaming will shut down in April
EA's Origin PC client has officially reached the end of the line. The gaming company had previously announced its plans to rebrand the Origin app for desktop players back in 2020 and began rolling out the new EA app in 2022.
EA Origin To Shutdown Later This Year
EA is closing Origin on April 17, 2025, switching to the EA App due to Microsoft's 32-bit abandonment. Games and accounts will transfer to the EA App seamlessly, including saved data and cloud storage. Transitioning to the EA App won't require redownloading games, with potential benefits for publishers seeking control.
