Right now, Zipotle will be available online in Rowlette, Texas, a Dallas suburb. How it works is pretty simple: Customers order on the Zipline app, a local Chipotle prepares the order, and then the drone flies to the address, hovers at about 300 feet, and drops the order down via a carrier.

Chipotle is teaming up with Zipline, a drone delivery company, to test autonomous food delivery. As of today, certain customers in the Dallas, TX, area can order delivery early through the Zipline app. Using autonomous aircraft, Zipline will bring orders directly from Chipotle in Rowlett, TX, to their doorsteps.

Then, Chipotle staff will place the food orders at locations where they can be picked up by the drones, which will then fly to customers’ homes. The company says that Zipline’s drones will hover “about 300 feet in the air” while a little carrier that contains the food is lowered to the ground.
