Vice President JD Vance said a U.S. economic deal in Ukraine was a 'better security guarantee than 20,000 troops from some random country.'

The vice president denied that he was talking about Britain and France when he downplayed “20,000 troops from some random country” protecting Ukraine. No other countries have pledged troops.

JD Vance has retreated from his earlier comments that seemed to disparage the UK by calling it "some random country that hasn't fought a war in 30 years". In response to criticism, Vance clarified: "This is absurdly dishonest.
