The Maxwell family has been growing strawberries for 51 years and has always had pick-your-own available. On its busiest days, the farm gets over 1,000 customers, Twillmann said.

Strawberry picking season is in full swing at Cherry Hill Orchards and concludes around mid-June. The entrance to the pick-your-own field can be found about 1/4 mile east of the market on Long Lane.

If I spotted a strawberry in the distance I’d go over to the plant, greet it, drop to my hands and knees, pick it and deposit it in the four quart cardboard box that I’d purchased upon arrival.
