The partial collapse of the three-story building in the Old Havana district popular with tourists gutted the insides of the decrepit building that was home to 13 families and 54 people.

The building collapse in Havana is just the latest in a string of disasters to hit the capital's housing. In May 2022, dozens of people were killed in a gas explosion at the Saratoga hotel.
