By Edward Carver Panamanian authorities seized six longliner vessels on Jan. 20 for fishing illegally in protected waters.

At night, many of these fishing vessels turn on bright lights to lure squid to the surface, where they are harvested using a large net. The lights are so strong that they can be seen from space.
