A security lockdown at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina was prompted by an armed man visiting his mother in the hospital and confronting his sister, who was also in possession of a gun, according to an update from police on Wednesday.

A man was arrested Tuesday after a report of someone with a gun inside Fairview Hospital in Edina sparked a lockdown, according to authorities. Edina Police Chief Todd Milburn said the incident in a hospital room involved a "domestic assault or domestic dispute", during which the suspect reportedly produced a gun.
