Microsoft has published a blog post with details about the upcoming end of support for Edge on consumer and server versions of Windows 7, 8, 8.1. The company will pull the plug on January 10, 2023.
WebUI 2.0 is a new, markup-first architecture designed to simplify the Edge source code structure, minimizing the amount of JavaScript code running during the UI initialization path.
The latest Microsoft Edge 107 update is only available on Windows 10 and 11. However, Microsoft has also prepared a small browser update for those still using Windows 7, 8, and 8.1.
Microsoft Edge will drop support for Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 after the release of version 109 on January 12th, 2023.
The Edge preview build 94.0.992.1 is the last build for version 94 and brings support for the downloads pop-up in PWAs and websites that are installed as apps.
