Atlanta Dream, Golden State Valkyries and WNBA

It’s beginning to feel a lot like the postseason. The WNBA has less then one month before the start of the playoffs, and the intensity kicked up a notch last week. Whether it was teams recognizing how little time is left to solidify playoff positioning or the aided boost of Rivals Week matchups,
Rhyne Howard had 14 points, six assists and five rebounds, Brionna Jones added 13 points and nine rebounds, and the Atlanta Dream ran away from the Golden State Valkyries in the third quarter for 79-63 win Sunday night.
For four quarters, the Atlanta Dream outmuscled and outworked the Valkyries in what became a 79-63 loss for the expansion team. Golden State dropped to 18-16 with the defeat and had their four-game winning streak snapped.
The Atlanta Dream slogged through a cold first half, managing only 25 points against Golden State’s gritty defense. But the second half was a different story. The Dream caught fire from beyond the arc, moved the ball with purpose and outscored the Valkyries the rest of the way to pull away for a 79-63 win Sunday.
The Chicago Sky fell to the expansion Golden State Valkyries 90-59 on Friday for their 12th loss in 13 games. Angel Reese (back) missed her seventh straight game.

Axios on MSNFans are divided over the Golden State Valkyries' new mascot
The Golden State Valkyries' new mascot was unveiled this week — and she's a cutie (to me, at least). Driving the news: Violet, easily identifiable by her round glasses and big grin, is a raven who knows how to break it down on the dance floor.
Playing the last-place Connecticut Sun, the Valkyries got off to a sluggish start Monday night but caught fire in the third quarter to cruise to a 74-57 win. Golden State shot 10-of-22 from the 3-point line in the second half and made 13 3s overall in a dominant win.
