The Hurst Fire in Sylmar "has rapidly expanded" to 850 acres Wednesday evening, forcing the evacuation of more than 3,000 residents, Los Angeles Fire Department officials said.  The blaze was first reported at around 10:10 p.

The Hurst Fire in Sylmar has prompted the evacuation of residents of the Oakridge Mobile Home Park. Michael, a longtime resident of the community, has packed up all of his belongings and is ready to leave but hasn’t yet,

Within 15 minutes the blaze exploded to more than 100 acres, jumped the freeway and began to spread in the Angeles National Forest.

Firefighters say that the fire is moving with a "rapid rate of spread," prompting evacuation orders for some Sylmar residents.

The “Hurst Fire,” which ignited late Tuesday night in the Sylmar area, has rapidly spread across more than 500 acres, prompting evacuations and emergency responses.

The Hurst fire was reported shortly before 10:30 p.m. near Diamond Road, according to CalFire. It quickly burned 100 acres in the footprint of the Saddle Ridge Fire that burned 8,799 acres in October 2019, Watch Duty, which tracks firefighting efforts in realtime, said on its website.

Multiple fires continue to burn in Southern California, including the Hurst Fire in Sylmar. FOX 11's Mario Ramirez spoke to an evacuated resident.
