A state-owned gambling company apologized after telling players that they had won “erroneously high prizes.” It blamed the error on a faulty currency conversion.

The Norwegian lottery got thousands of players excited with messages telling them they had won big in the Eurojackpot only to leave them disappointed.

Players had made "plans for holidays, buying an apartment or renovating before they realized that the amount was wrong."
