Police, DA: Kylee Monteiro’s boyfriend confessed to stabbing teen to death, burying body on property
The suspect in the murder of 18-year-old Kylee Monteiro faced a judge Wednesday morning where prosecutors recounted Gregory Groom's confession in the incident to Rehoboth police.
The ex-boyfriend of a missing 18-year-old who was 11 weeks pregnant has been arrested after her remains were discovered, officials said.
The day before prosecutors say her boyfriend stabbed her three times, 18-year-old Kylee Monteiro sent an ominous warning to her sister: "If I die it was Greg."
The allegations were detailed in police reports and by a prosecutor Wednesday in Taunton District Court, where Gregory R. Groom pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and assault and battery on a pregnant victim in connection with the death of Kylee Monteiro.
Kylee Monteiro’s disappearance and death, allegedly at the hands of her boyfriend, highlights an unsettling truth for many women in unstable and abusive relationships: pregnancy can increase the risk for violence.
She always brought a smile into every room she walked into and her laugh was contagious,” said a former classmate of Kylee Monteiro.
Gregory Groom was charged in connection with the death of Kylee Monteiro, 18, who was 11 weeks pregnant with his child when she disappeared.
