Wimbledon officials blocked Portugal No 1 Nuno Borges’s request to wear a Portugal football shirt on to court in tribute to Diogo Jota, it has been claimed.

Diogo Jota was remembered at Wimbledon as two Portuguese players wore a black ribbon on their all-white attire during their matches, a day after the Liverpool winger and his brother were killed in a car crash.

Portuguese tennis player Francisco Cabral was given permission to stray from Wimbledon’s strict all-white dress code to honor the late Liverpool and Portugal soccer star Diogo Jota, he told reporters,
