The Winnipeg Jets are the top team in the NHL, but they are making sure to stay well-stocked in every area of their team. Just over a month ago, the Jets placed goalie Kaapo Kahkonen on waivers, where he was claimed by the Colorado Avalanche.

The Winnipeg Jets are picking up another goalie. Winnipeg is looking to strengthen its roster amidst a strong season.

After only playing one game for the Colorado Avalanche goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen is going back to the Winnipeg Jets. Kahkonen, 28, was placed on waivers by the Winnipeg Jets in October, in which the Colorado Avalanche claimed him off waivers.

The Avalanche lost to the Jets 1-0 in Winnipeg on Thursday. Alexandar Georgiev made 27 saves for the Avalanche, who outshot the Jets 34-28 and were 2/2 on the penalty kill. Gabriel Vilardi opened the scoring for Winnipeg with a shot from the right doorstep off a cross-ice feed from Mark Scheifele at 1:06 of the first period.

It’s safe to say the Winnipeg Jets don’t exactly have fond memories of the Colorado Avalanche, who quickly put an end to their Stanley Cup aspirations last spring in a five-game playoff series victory. It was a painful defeat, which led to some serious off-season soul-searching by the squad.

The Winnipeg Jets have re-claimed goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen off Waivers from division rival Colorado Avalanche. On Tuesday afternoon, news broke that one of the three players placed on Waivers (for the purpose of AHL assignment) was claimed.
